About the event
Session 1: Understanding Teen Emotions & the Adolescent Brain
Why do teens feel everything so intensely, and why does logic seem to disappear in the heat of the moment? In this foundational session, we’ll explore what’s happening inside the adolescent brain and how emotion and regulation systems develop at different speeds. Parents will gain insight into why teens escalate quickly, calm slowly, and are deeply affected by stress, sleep, screens and social pressure.
This session is designed to normalize emotional ups and downs, reduce parent self-blame and build empathy before jumping into strategies. You’ll also learn practical tools like “name it to tame it,” what not to say during emotional moments, and how to decide when to step in versus step back.
